KBT60005 Installing RBR Asset File

Using a RBR asset installer with TRS2006

Description

TRS2006 does not allow easy importation of a large number of assets. When there are only a few assets needed we do a process of;

  • Revert existing asset (if any)
  • Delete existing asset (if any)
  • Install new asset
  • Commit new asset

This is a very slow process as each asset being added requires four executions of the 'TrainzUtil' (TU) program. So some asset compendiums with a large number of assets require that you manually perform some steps.

Procedure

You require knowledge of using Content Manager Plus (CMP), it is a utility provided by Auran.

Before running installer

  • Open CMP
  • In the 'Search' option select 'Open for editing' as the search criteria
  • If any assets are displayed
    • Move your mouse over to the asset list
    • Press Control-A to select all assets
    • Press Control-M to commit the assets 1)
  • Exit CMP completely

Running installer

When CMP is closed, run the installer. Please be aware that the load will take quite a time to complete and no progress indication is possible when running TU. You will also need to ensure you have enough space for twice the uncompress size of the assets as the installer creates a temporary directory for TU to import the assets.

After running installer

  • Open CMP
  • In the 'Search' option select 'Open for editing' as the search criteria
  • The new assets are displayed
    • Move your mouse over to the asset list
    • Press Control-A to select all assets
    • Press Control-M to commit the assets
  • Exit CMP completely

Finished

The install should be complete.

Note

RBR does not actively support TRS2006, we recommend TRS2004. If you have problems we may not be able to assist.

1) If the assets open are not required to be updated use Control-R instead
