We set the challenge, you do the driving!

What we do: The Razorback Railway is a Trainz fansite. We are a non-profit organisation which makes material for use with Auran's Trainz Railway Simulator, which is a commercial program for Windows PC's. We mainly concentrate on interactive scripted activities which are run as scenarios in TRS2004. In TRS2006 they are run as driver sessions but appear almost identical to TRS2004 scenarios.

Free of charge: Layouts, rolling stock asset paks, asset management utilities, a small sample of activities, support, forum.

Optional annual subscription (NOW ONLY US$15): Entitles you to download the full set of our activities - giving you more than forty additional activities.

System requirements: TRS2004 (SP4) or TRS2006 (SP1), a computer to run it on, and an Internet connection. At the moment we do not provide support for running our material on any other versions of Trainz.

The Razorback advantage: Everything you need is fully compatible, fully tested, and downloaded from our server at full speed. No CMP, no DLS, no missing dependencies and no broken assets.

Activities of all kinds: Steam, diesel and electric; passenger and freight; mainline, branch line, shunting and shunting puzzles; choice of DCC and CAB mode. In every case (except activity TFN15) you are the driver. The frequency of instructions in our activities varies widely, from merely an introductory statement of what you have to achieve in some cases, brief occasional instructions in others, and instructions every step of the way in yet others. Some activities include user choices and/or random events.

A free standalone slide show program illustrating our work can be downloaded with no need to register with us. It can be run without needing to have Trainz installed on your computer. There are two versions available: 97 images (9.43MB) and 15 images (1.66MB).

To access our material, register (free of charge, leave the payment fields blank), then go to the Getting Started section of our FAQ for full details. You need to download and install some essential files before our activities will work.

If you have any questions or problems, please don't hesitate to use our friendly forum.

Happy driving on the RBR!

Hi marjon,
Latest Releases

TFN16 - Midday On The Bay

A freight run from Patterson to Apollo Bay and back. You'll be making up your train at Patterson Yard, loading your wagons with general goods, heading over to the Apollo Bay branch line platform, then running down to the Bay. At the Bay there's a shunt for you to puzzle out, with a choice of two difficulty levels. Easy mode is the shunt for people who hate shunts and is very simple. Even moderate mode is unlikely to cause you very much head scratching. Then it's a drive back to Patterson and finally you park the empty wagons and your loco. Duration in easy mode is about 75 minutes, in moderate mode 90 minutes. For technical reasons this activity is only available for TRS2004 users. Available NOW for RBR subscribers only in the Downloads area.

LOC01 - Tunby Freight

A nice leisurely drive from Ashburn to Tunby. Load some grain and a few containers and return to Ashburn.
Task.....Moderate
Time.....Around 60 mins.
FREE to all RBR members and available NOW in the downloads section.

WSY109 - Steaming Port 2

Available NOW for RBR subscribers only in the Downloads area.

TFN15 - Altona Dispatcher

This is the first Razorback Railway activity in which you don't do any train driving. Instead, you have to operate the signals and junctions so as to route trains through Altona station to their correct destinations. You do this by clicking control buttons with the mouse. You'll be presented with information about the trains and you'll also be able to see them as is normal in Trainz. In order to succeed you'll need to do some research. You'll have to discover the locations of all the signals and junctions that you can control, and you'll also need to develop a good knowledge of where places are on the Razorback Classic layout. Available NOW for RBR subscribers only in the Downloads area.

AND001 - Logs n Milk

Your job today is to run some logs from Mid Glen Forest to Aversleigh Mill. Because of the track configuration you cannot take them direct. So take them first to Glenavy, leave them there, run some full milk tankers down to Norris Green, turn your engine and bring back some empty milk tankers to Glenavy. Now you are pointing in the right direction, take your logs on to Aversleigh for unloading. Pay attention to the signals and make sure you load and unload all your logs as directed. This activity is rated as Easy, and will take about 90 minutes to complete. FREE to all RBR members and available NOW in the downloads section.
