For anyone with dial-up access and therefore wanting to download the RBR Dual files with a download manager program, I've created, with Larry's blessing, a mirror site at http://www.johncleth...rdual/index.htm

If you are not using a download manager program then please use the normal copies on this, the Razorback Railway server.

Thanks John!

I have no choice but to use dial-up and it really takes a long time to DL any large files without being able to use a Download Manager.  Then, of course, there's always the problem of getting 90% - 95% of the file downlaoded and then getting booted off line.

Thanks again,
Scott

Scott,

Let me know if there are any other large RBR files you need. I'll need to get Larry's permission for each one but in theory I can mirror host a few more.

Thanks John!

So far it hasn't been a real problem because the activities are relatively small.  I ended up ordering the CD with Razorback V5 & V6 back when I joined because I couldn't DL them.  Right now it's just the Dual files that are giving me fits, but I have them all now..........finally!  If any others come along that are that large I'll be sure to ask you.

Someday when I'm rich I'm going to get satellite Internet.  Of course, I've been saying that since satellite Internet first appeared and I don't seem to be getting any richer.  I just can't justify $70+ a month for Internet access so for now I'll just plug along with my dial-up and make do.

Thanks again!
Scott

Is there no sensibly priced ADSL broadband where you are? In Britain ADSL is now the same price or cheaper than dial-up. Mind you, at times my ISP's system is so overloaded that it crawls along at dial-up speeds anyway :(

Hi John,

That's one of the sacrifices one makes for living far out in the country as I do.  I am on the end of the phone line out here and it's 7 1/2 miles of line just to service me.  They would need to upgrade those old lines to accommodate anything high-speed and they certainly aren't going to invest that kind of money for just one customer.  There are a couple high-speed wireless services nearby, but not nearby enough.  I am right on the edge of their signal reach and they can't guarantee I'd be able to receive it.  Again, it's a $300 investment just for the setup and I can't pay that for a service that, in all likelihood, wouldn't work anyway. The only real viable option is satellite and, as I said, I just can't justify that kind of money.  I can, for the most part, get by with my slow dial-up and maybe someday I'll be able to join you all in the 21st Century.

Living in the country as I do, you are forced to give up some conveniences.  This is my perfect place, though, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
