In my dodderingness, the various train icons on my desktop with '12' in 'em bonkers me.  I'm not sure which one (ones) is which, nor when I last checked this topic 12.

I'm re-running the TRS2004's from the Compendium in sequence and many are acting strange.  I don't plan to ask for help on these as I'd rather see the time used to get RBR12 going.

Thanks for the Railworks help offer, Brian.  I'd best see again which that is. :whonose:

If you right click on the shortcut icon, then Rename, you can call it what you like.

um..er..oh well.  Would you believe that that is how they got their current names?  Of course you would.  I have 7  icons, added as I got 'em over time, with no forethought that my too-short names would soon blend into mush in my head.  But your fix is really needed, so I'll git 'er done.

To be sure we are on the same sim-of-interest, it is Railworks, is it not?

Thanks,
Herb

Hi Brian

I think I'm on the page with you:  EA's Rail Simulator on DVD which must be used during play.  Had it since Sep. 2008 but haven't looked at in a long time.  Looks better than I remembered.

Off to Barstow....

I hoped for different reasons.  Like working turntables, front coupling, etc.  I figgered with the money behind them, it could be great.  I also recal some ahole moderators that could almost match those that used to be on the udder guys.

I got the flight sim but wasn't able to get comfortable with it.  I never got used to not being able to have the ground in view and kept getting buried. Too many dimensions for me addled brain.

As for kuju, my latest poke about looks like my 07/02/08 DVD is not being updated.  I was hoping EA wasn't done with it.  But I've not given it time enuff to know.

Hi Herb,

I took my eye off Kuju for a while and it slipped off my radar.  From what I can now gather, EA/Kuju was the original, which was taken over by Railworks.  Then came Railworks 2 and the latest is Railworks 3 (Train Simulator 2012)  Somewhere along the line, this simulator migrated to Steam which put me off for a while.

I bit the bullet a couple of months back and grabbed a copy, mainly due to the poor session offerings with Trainz 2012.  Now I wouldn't go back.  As I mentioned earlier, apart from RBR, I've given Trainz away.  This is a much better product IMO.

Cheers
Brian

Larry,

Where does MSTS Bin fit in all this?  Was it just a tart up, or a substantial code rewrite?

Cheers

G'day Brian, I have been having a look at this sim but it seemed that I had to open a steam account to be able to use it, is this correct? I was trying to download a free trial version to see what it was all about, all I got was some sort of trailer, when it came to the signing up bit I wasn't to sure, any advise on this?

Cheers

HI ted,
Unfortunately, this game is only available from Steam, and to download it you'll need an account.  You can set it up so that you can play it in offline mode.  I still haven't got a full handle on Steam, how it works, where the files are etc, but I've just about got it to do everything I want it to.

So really, it comes down to whether you want this sim or not.

Cheers

Brian is right re Kuju Rail Simulator being part of Steam.  I run mine online and didn't even know it could run offline.  The Steam version is better than the original PC DVD, but doesn't have the great instructions that are part of RBR creations.  I spend a ton of time on the Map rather than just driving.  Perhaps when I get more time in?....bah humbug

Now to see how to run offline. :whonose:
