Unfortunately I am unable to install in TRS 2006. I d/l into separate folder as usual. When I tried to open, received the "cannot open etc". I chose open with Auran CMP. When clicking on changed icon CMP opened but the only open for edit items showing were those I installed. Nothing for RB Dual.
Obviously I am doing something wrong so can some kind person help me?
Thanks.

The file you downloaded is an exe file. You've done the right thing to save it to a folder. But now it's finished downloading you just need to double-click it to run it and it will run by itself. We don't use CMP.
Post again with details if you need any more help,
John

Thanks very much for prompt reply. Each time I open the .exe file CMP opens. Where I went wrong was at first I received the MS msg that file could not be opened. I then chose to open in CMP and am now stuck!
I have deleted files then re d/l one with same result. How can I allocate your installer to install now?
Trust this is clear.

If you have managed that you have told cdp/cmp it owns exe files at the moment don't think I even want to let a braincell loose! Seriously, you will need to unassign the .exe extension from Trainz (cdp/cmp) back to windoze at the moment .. sorry I code not code i++ and expect it to work.
Ug the gooroo has fallen into the pit of Auran-icity .. we will not survive .. man the life boat men and ferrets forst!

1. How much custom content have you got in your World folder?
2. How long would it take you to back it up, and reinstall T2006
I think that would be the cleanest way out of your problem.
Itsa pain I know.
Cheers
I know that you believe that you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise, that what you heard is not what I meant.

2. Do other non-Razorback exe files run ok when you double-click them? If not, what happens?
3. Try this please in Windows Explorer: Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Look down the list of registered file types (i.e. extensions). Is EXE listed? I don't think it should be. If it is listed, then left click once on it and tell us what "Open with" says. I suspect that if there is an entry for EXE, especially one which points to CMP, then you could just delete it and that would mend things, but wait please before making any changes until an expert says whether or not I'm correct.
4. There are some hints on how to repair the exe file extension association here but it gets quite technical. If you're not fully confident with doing what it suggests, it would be best not to risk making a bad situation worse.

I am using XP-SP2. Have not d/l any RB files before - this is my first foray :o
Re para 3: I did not see EXE so tried the HTML link "here" and added EXE. Still no success.
I do not wish to delete TRS 2006 etc. so, reluctantly, will have to forgo the wonders of Razorback
Once again, many thanks.

Added: I opened Folders in Explorer and found .IPB ext. which I deleted. Icon reverts to the usual windows one and msg; "unable to open etc" appears.
Is there an Installer file I need to open .IPB files I wonder? Strange this as all those lucky people using Razorback presumably do not have my problem...

Don't keep making random changes like that. You run a very serious risk of messing up the whole Windows configuration beyond the point where it can be easily corrected.
IPB is the name of the forum software we use (InVision Power Board). As far as I know it isn't a file type or an extension.
Let's just step back a bit and check some fundamentals.
The files you downloaded from us should have had an extension of exe (which is short for "executable" but that doesn't matter). When you list them in Windows Explorer with the "Details" view option they should be listed with a Type of "Application". Can you confirm whether that's the case please? If not, maybe we've been looking in the wrong place for what's going wrong.

The filename should be RBRDualMap.exe and the letters IPB should not appear in it anywhere. Maybe you had an aborted partial download or maybe the filename or the extension got corrupted somehow.
I think your best bet is to delete the file and download it again. That will ensure you have a good copy of the latest version.
To check that the extension is correct, after downloading has completely finished do this:
Go into Windows Explorer, go to the folder where you downloaded it to. Click on the "Views" toolbar button and select "Details" (if this isn't already the case).
If the file is listed as RBRDualMap (without the ".exe" part) then in the Windows Explorer menu, Tools > Folder Options. Click the "View" tab. If "Hide extensions for known file types" is ticked, click once to untick it. Don't make any other changes. Click OK. The display may take a few seconds to refresh. The file should now be listed as RBRDualMap.exe. If not, press the F5 key and it should refresh and be correct now.
You can leave that setting unticked, or you can tick it again to put it back how it was. I prefer it unticked so I can see what's going on but it is a personal preference.
Also check that the size of the file is 8900KB and the "Type" is listed as "Application".
If all is ok so far, try double-clicking the file and it should install itself for you.
If any problems occur with this, let us know with the details of what happened, error messages, etc.
By the way, you'll also need to download and install the RBR:Dual Essential Assets file. The layout uses the items in that file. You only need to download the two Dual rolling stock asset pack files if you plan to run our forthcoming activities for the layout, or want to use the rolling stock in Driver sessions that you create yourself.

ps - regarding the football, wouldn't it be nice if we all had jobs where we could be total failures and then walk away with enormous sums of money? Meanwhile nurses in Britain suffer a pay cut in real terms and hospitals are full to the point where ambulances have to queue up outside. Sorry, end of rant!
